Good Eats Around MD: Milk & Honey

November 12, 2015

For our first installment of Good Eats around Mater Dei, we’re taking you 11 minutes down Bristol to a little place called Milk & Honey. As the crown jewel of Costa Mesa’s Camp, Milk & Honey has a big name to live up to, and it does the job well.

Milk & Honey’s menu consists of unique healthy eats offerings including: tea lattes and acai bowls. After school one day, we ordered three things: Chocolate Monkey Cooler, Mango Iced Tea, and an açai bowl.

milkandhoney2The Chocolate Monkey Cooler is a cold blended chocolate drink, like a Frappuccino, but with banana mixed in.  It’s not too sweet as many people criticize mocha frappes at Starbucks to be, either. It has just the right amount of chocolate and banana – a perfect treat after a long day at school.

Now onto the Mango Iced Tea. This, to be honest, was a little too sweet upon first sip. There’s definitely a lot of sweetener in this drink. Even if you’re not into that, once you mix the drink around a bit thIMG_1248.PNGe sugar mellows out, and the mango flavor kicks in and does its job.

We saved the best for last with the açai bowl. Not only does it taste delicious, but it looks beautiful too. The bowl included bananas, kiwis, strawberries, pineapples, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries mixed with granola and an açai berry purée.

This cute little shop is at the corner of the Camp, so it has an indoor and outdoor seating area. We sat outside, right next to a plant with a sign that said, “please don’t hurt the plants.” Clearly, the people in charge here care about the environment, and that’s pretty cool.

Another unique feature at Milk & Honey is the big chalkboard wall inside, where people wrote all sorts of slogans and shameless plugs to follow them on social media. So how could we leave without shouting ourselves out?

Overall, Milk & Honey has a really chill and relaxing vibe, which makes it a great place to take a quick break after school, especially if you’re driving home after a rough day of tests with a backpack full of homework. We recommend stopping by and picking up a treat here. None of the items on the menu are very expensive, and if they’re anything like what we tried, they’re all very good.
