As this school year has started with a bang, many teens around the clock have wanted a way to escape the stress that homework brings, put themselves at ease or simply procrastinate tedious assignments. Here are a few of the top trending shows on Netflix:

Lost:

Lost covers the aftermath of a plane crash on a remote island and how the survivors handle life outside of civilization. With constant thrillers in the story line, Lost provides both suspense and a sense of adventure. New developments are constantly transpiring! Whether you’re seeking a perilous escapade or just a sense of thrilling edge, Lost is the perfect show for you.

The Office:

Following in the footsteps of its English predecessor, The Office is an iconic documentary style TV series following a run down paper company in Scranton, Pennsylvania. No words can do the comedic genius of this show justice. Not only has it created some of the most hilarious moments in TV history, but it also drew each of its viewers into the lives of every character; something few producers can successfully do. This show can be watched over and over and still be just as enjoyable as the first viewing. From the opening scene to the closing credits, The Office was able to encompass every aspect of hilarity whether it was through facetious antics or the lovable quirks of each character.

Arrested Development:

Much like The Office, Arrested Development is a classic documentary style series starring the Bluth family, who are the wealthy owners of a frozen banana stand on Balboa island. Their downfall begins after the family’s patriarch is sent to jail. Filmed in Newport Beach, California,  Arrested Development appeals to thousands of Southern California dwellers as it is shot around many well known places in Orange County. With rich sarcasm and boisterous banter, this series is undoubtedly one of Netflix’s most valuable additions. The perfectly cast actors portray characters with witty dialogue making this underrated series a must see for anyone who loves to laugh.

Grey’s Anatomy:

Grey’s Anatomy has proven to be one of the most popular shows on Netflix while capturing the lives of five young interns as they move their way up the ranks at Seattle Grace hospital. Swinging your emotions from one end of the spectrum to the next, this show constantly keeps you enthralled with scandalous plot lines and new characters. The world of Grey’s Anatomy is not one you can easily escape from, so enter with caution. This is a perfect drama that engrosses a wide variety of audiences.

Friends:

Friends is a textbook 90’s icon that can be argued as one of the most popular TV shows in history. Set in New York City, this show follows the lives of six young friends trying to make it in the real world. The versatility in character personality makes it nearly impossible for you to find someone you can’t relate to. Friends has you falling in love with all of the characters. By the end of the series, you’ll feel like you haven’t missed a moment of their lives; whether it be their bad relationships or coffee breaks.

Stranger Things:

This 80’s inspired show has become a Netflix favorite over the past few months. Set in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, the show centers around the disappearance of young boy. It is up to his best friends, his mother, his brother and the town sheriff to face forces that are out-of-this-world in order to get him back. The creators of the show, Matt and Ross Duffer, were inspired by 80’s movies such as E.T. and The Goonies as well as author Stephen King and director Steven Speilberg. This supernatural phenomenon has become and overnight sensation. Season two is rumored to premiere July 2017. So until then, give the show a watch.

New Girl:

After a six year relationship, Jessica Day (Zooey Deschanel) moves in with three unlikely roommates. These three single men, Nick (Jake Johnson), Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Winston (Lamorne Morris), along with Jessica’s best friend Cece (Hannah Simone), create a dysfunctional family who face the ups and downs of adulthood by each other’s side. This show will have you laughing so hard you’ll cry, and leave you on the edge of your seat wondering what path each of these characters will take.

Gilmore Girls:

This heart-warming and feel-good show centers around Loreli (Lauren Graham) and Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel), the unstoppable mother-daughter duo experiencing life by each other’s sides. Living in the small town of Star’s Hallow, Rory has bigger dreams for herself and wants to attend an Ivy League school. Her mother works at a bed-and-breakfast and does whatever she can to fulfill her daughter’s hopes and dreams. This show captivates the audience and has the ability to make any viewer feel like they are a part of the community of Star’s Hallow. This November will be the premiere of the Gilmore Girls revival. So start watching the first seven seasons in order to be caught up. Ready, set, GO!

 

Bobs Burgers:

Bob Belcher is a hopeful restaurateur trying to save his dream of owning his own burger joint. Bob along with his wife, Linda and three children Tina, Gene and Louise, run the restaurant and often find themselves in some strange situations. This quirky and dysfunctional family never fails to make and audience laugh with its dry and witty humor.
