The varsity football team ended Homecoming week with a victory, defeating JSerra 45-3 on Oct. 20.
During the first quarter, junior quarterback JT Daniels threw a pass of 8 yards to senior wide receiver Chris “CJ” Parks. During the second quarter, Daniels threw a pass of 24 yards to junior wide receiver Horace McCoy III for a touchdown.
“When the kickoff starts, when the game starts, [the players] just hit a switch,” Coach Bruce Rollinson said. “I was really pleased with the leadership.”
Daniels ran for a 14-yard touchdown. Sophomore running back Chris Street ran for a punt return and senior wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown ran for an 89-yard touchdown.
“Amon-Ra’s big touchdown was great. It was like he was reaching up for the stars and the football just fell so well into his hands. That was when I knew JSerra was doomed,” senior Jack Chorbagian said.
The first quarter ended up with a score of 10-3, while the second quarter ended up with a score of 14-3. The third quarter ended up with a score of 21-3 leaving the final score 45-3.
“It was a great school victory,” senior varsity outside linebacker Jack Genova said.
During the halftime show, the Homecoming princesses and queen were crowned. After the coronation, the marching band performed their halftime field show, “Queen,” which included hit songs such as “Bicycle Race,” “Don’t Stop Me Now,” and “Bohemian Rhapsody” led by Homecoming queen and drum major April Hernandez.
“It was a thrilling experience filled with friends and laughter, and the energy in the stadium while watching the football players is the best moment I’ve experienced,” senior Alexia Thornberry said.
