Homecoming Week begins today
With Homecoming week kicking off with tonight’s dance, students may have noticed this year’s calendar of events is different than in years past.
The schedule changes this year are due to a Diocese of Orange event that was scheduled for Oct. 13 that was ultimately cancelled, according to Jeanette Costa, associate director of student activities. Next year, the Homecoming dance will return to its normal time at the end of Homecoming spirit week.
Another change for this year is the combining of the Servite Night Rally and Homecoming Rally. The Homecoming Night Rally, which will still be a blackout rally, will take place this Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Food trucks will be available from 5 to 7 p.m.
Each day during Homecoming has a dress theme: Tuesday is “Trendsetter Tuesday,” Wednesday is “When I Grow Up Wednesday,” Thursday is “‘50s Thursday,” and on Friday, students can wear their “Beat Servite” T-shirts with jeans. In addition, during lunch each day, ASB will be hosting a variety of activities including performances, games and contests. The week will end on Friday with an all-school lunch, which will also feature food trucks, along with the Homecoming football game versus Servite at 7 p.m at the Santa Ana Bowl that night.
“We’re hoping people will come with their families and friends, and we’re gonna have performances and games,” Costa said. “…it’ll be fun.”
