Inaugural Get Movin’ virtual event takes place this Saturday and Sunday
As a way to encourage people to get out of their houses for some exercise and fun, people in the Mater Dei community from all over the world have the opportunity to complete a virtual 1K, 5K, or 10K to support need-based financial aid for students this Saturday and Sunday. This new event can be done at any point during the day by walking, running, biking, or swimming. In order to participate, there is a registration fee that can be paid on the Mater Dei website. Once registered, there is a create-your-own bib that can be downloaded. The race of choice can be completed anywhere and with anyone.
“This is a fun, unique opportunity to get involved in something different and support our school at the same time,” said Kathleen Kelly, class of ‘94 and the Director of Alumni Giving and Relations.
With the cancellation of Homecoming and other large group activities, the Alumni Giving and Relations office has come up with a new way for everyone involved with Mater Dei to come together as a community. It is also encouraged to share photos of the event with the Mater Dei community, either on Instagram, Facebook, or other social media apps with the hashtags #WeAreMD #GetMovinMD #Moving4MDHS #WeAreMD.
“During this back to school time we are so used to being together at games and events. We had to come up with a new idea,” Kelly said. “This is a fun way for Monarchs around the world to show their MD pride and continue to support the current students.”
Your donation will support the Student Publications Department at Mater Dei High School. Your contribution will allow us to keep our equipment up to date and cover our annual website hosting costs.
