Pie eating contest:
During both lunches on Oct. 2, students participated in a Pie Eating Contest as part of the Homecoming Week festivities. The objective was to be the fastest contestant to consume an entire pie using only their hands. The Upper Lunch winner was senior Michael Alvarez, finishing in under a minute, and the Lower Lunch winner was sophomore Lelaini Lau.
Theatre in the Grotto
On Thursday, Sept. 28, The Iliad, The Odyssey, and All of Greek Mythology in 90 Minutes or Less debuted. The show was also presented on Sept. 30 and Oct.1. Santa Ana College’s Theatre Director, Amberly Chamberlain directed this Mater Dei play. Those involved received dual enrollment credits for the college. The rehearsals and prep lasted about seven weeks, and allowed the students to show some of the talents they’ve improved on this school year.
Red Carpet Walk:
Spirit dress will continue throughout this week, following a Hollywood star theme. Tuesday’s theme will be “Celebrity Icon”, dress like your favorite celebrity, followed by “Stunt Double” where students will twin with someone else on Wednesday. Thursday, students can bring “anything but a backpack”, as long as it is 3ft by 3ft. And Friday the Monarchs will take on their royal name, and wear their best crowns and royal attire.
