MATER DEI VS BOSCO FOOTBALL:

Mater Dei’s battle against Saint John Bosco went a different route than was expected. A heartbreaking defeat took place on Friday, Oct.13 at the Bosco home field. The Monarch Varsity Football Team will have to re-strategize.The Braves defeated Mater Dei 0-28 in front of a sellout crowd of almost 7,000, taking a significant step toward capturing the top seed for the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs and taking sole ownership of first place in the Trinity League. Several rational polls picked Mater Dei as the top school, while St. John Bosco was placed ninth in the country. Bosco gave the Monarchs their first league defeat since 2011 against Orange Lutheran, ending a four-year losing streak against Mater Dei. 

ALL SCHOOL MASS:

On Tuesday, Oct.17 there is an all school Mass in honor of Respect Life Month. The celebration will take place in the Meruelo Athletic Center. It will be a time for everyone to come together as a community and pray for all humanity and respect life. Professional dress is required for all students, faculty and staff. 

MD SURF VS LONG BEACH WILSON:

Mater Dei’s Surf Team is competing against Long Beach Wilson on Tuesday, Oct. 17. This match is going to take place at Huntington Beach, Tower 5 at 7 AM. All athletic ability levels are represented on the Surf squad, keen to compete in a relaxed contest environment while simultaneously honing their surfing skills. We wish a safe match and the best to our Monarchs who are going to be competing.
