Lions vs Monarchs
Tuesday, Oct. 1 the Mater Dei Girls Volleyball Team had a clean sweep against JSerra at the JSerra Pavillion. The Monarchs won all four games: freshman, frosh/soph, JV, and varsity. According to Cheyenne Torres, a player on the girls volleyball freshman team, “The Jserra games were competitive, but all of our teams did fabulous.”
Grandparents Day
Thursday, Oct. 3 all Monarchs had the opportunity to invite their grandparents to join them for a portion of the school day. This annual event is a day where grandchildren and grandparents can bond together as students have the opportunity to share their classes with them. The day finished with a Mass in the chapel and lunch for all grandparents and their grandchildren in the Library.
Romeo and Juliet
On Thursday, Oct.3, Mater Dei’s Honors Theater III, IV, and V gave their debut performance of the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. Junior Antonio Perez took the lead as Romeo and junior Alexa Giries was cast as Juliet. “The show was entertaining,” freshman Darlyn Vargas said. “I really enjoyed the way the actors really enthused their acts.”
