Netflix offers binge-worthy TV shows

Students normally download episodes of TV on their iPads at home so they can catch up on all their favorite shows at school.

Freshman Fiona Waldron catches up on Switched at Birth during lunch. “If I had episodes downloaded, I would watch more TV during school,” Waldron said.

Spring break means catching up on sleep, making time to serve the community, and finally having the freedom to catch up on all of your favorite TV shows.

A lot of shows have hit the spotlight this year and captured the attention of many students and teachers, such as Riverdale and Stranger Things.

Riverdale is an American television drama series available on Netflix about a group of high school students who uncover the secrets their town holds after the suspicious death of a classmate.

Junior Alexis DeWid caught up on this hit show during spring break.

“I like Riverdale because it’s really unpredictable and you can’t really guess what is going to happen,” DeWid said.

Riverdale has its first season available on Netflix and it is currently halfway through its second season; new episodes for Riverdale come out every Wednesday on the CW.

Another popular show in the spotlight is the Netflix original series Stranger Things. The sci-fi thriller show sets in the 1980s, featuring a young missing boy which leads to layers upon layers of terrifying twists and turns.

Stranger Things has captivated the attention of the Mater Dei  community and many students at school, it even inspired the music and font choice of an episode of MDTV.

“I like Stranger Things because it’s a great storyline,” junior Amy Berbiglia said. “I think the hype over the show is worth it because the anticipation of the upcoming season gets you hooked on the show.”

Stranger Things currently has its first two seasons available on Netflix, and Netflix officially announced that they will be renewing a third season that will make appearance sometime in the next year.
