Monarchs make plans for the summer

With the amount of weeks in school winding down, many students are beginning to figure out their plans for summer. From sports and exotic vacations to long days spent at the beach and summer music festivals, summer is bound to be packed with action.
For Monarchs, the beach will be a common location these next few months.
“I really look forward to hanging out with friends at the beach and going in the water,” junior Troy Cochrane said. “I think when you live in Southern California, summer is not summer without going to the beach.”
Junior Andrew Rugienius agrees, especially since “I don’t really have much time to go during the school year,” he said.
The radio and music is also always a large part of the summer. One of our own Mater Dei students will experience the hits of the summer first hand.
“This summer I am going to the Rolling Loud Rap music festival in Miami,” sophomore Chase Hall said. “I really look forward to it because I feel like summer always needs to be filled with good music.”
Lastly, a common fun activity to do during the summer is to travel. Vacations are a great way to get away from where you live and experience something new with your friends or family.
“This summer, I am going back to visit my family in Philadelphia,” junior Gabe Yudis said. “I will also spend some time studying at the University of Pennsylvania.”
While some are visiting local spots in the United States, others are traveling internationally.
“This summer I am spending some time in Fiji,” sophomore Augie Renezeder said. “I really look forward to that because my family has an island there and I usually get to bring some friends.”
The summer is a great way to get your mind away from school, sports, or anything else that takes hard work during the academic year. It is a time to just have fun and enjoy the good food, music, and sunshine with your close friends and family.
