Coffeehouse:
Friday and Saturday, Apr. 4-5, the Mater Dei Choral and Vocal Music Department will present their annual Coffeehouse Concert in the Grotto. This event features a variety of vocal performances from individual student choir members to groups including Vocal FX, Bristol Boys, and Rubies. “I’m really excited to perform,” senior Lauren Lee said. “I’ve done Coffeehouse every year because it’s a great way for students to put themselves out there!” Make sure to support your classmates and buy tickets via ludus.com!
Red Cross Blood Drive:
Wednesday, Apr. 2, was the spring blood drive in collaboration with the American Red Cross. Taking place in the library, eligible student donors aged 16 or older participated and received a free t-shirt for donating. With the United States in a current blood shortage, student leaders of the Red Cross Club initiated this life saving event. “For students 17 and older, they don’t need a parental consent form,” senior Jay Qiu said. “It’s nice because these students can make their own informed decisions and help their community.”
Graduation Speeches Due:
Senior speeches for the culminating school year events are due Monday, Apr. 7. To support MD students, the counseling office has hosted writing and speech workshops for interested students. Outstanding speeches will be selected for presentation at the Baccalaureate Mass and Graduation day ceremonies. The students with the top speeches will also be honored as the Class of 2025 Salutatorian and Valedictorian.
