Election of a Lifetime
The 2016 came as a surprise and shock to most Americans, though initially many hoped that the year and a half of tireless campaigning would end.
President-Elect Trump
The result of the 2016 election was businessman Donald Trump. He rooted his campaign in fighting ISIS and solving the immigration problem with a wall.
Protests Across America
After the election of Donald Trump, thousands of protesters began protesting outside Trump Tower in New York and all over the country.
Swing States
Though crucial in every election, swing states proved their importance in the 2016 election with the success of Donald Trump.
Global Crises
Warzone Aleppo, Syria became a human rights nightmare, even calling the UN to help.

Worldwide, the Zika virus became a fear of people, especially pregnant women, who may develop Microcephaly.

In June, following the Orlando Shooting, Sen. Chris Murphy of Connecticut filibustered for 15 hours, the longest in history, for stricter gun control.

A goal of the Obama Administration was to reduce climate change. The administration reduced carbon emissions and cut oil imports.
Immigration
Immigration played a key role in the 2016 election, with Donald Trump proposing a wall on the southern border that Mexico would pay for and Hillary Clinton supporting immigration reform.
