Emma Shillington is a freshman at Mater Dei High School and a first-year staff reporter for The Scarlet Scroll. She is also on the soccer team and loves to hang out with her friends. Shillington also loves food and traveling around the world.

WORKING HARD : As the varsity girls play hard at their tournament in San Diego, defender Jade Harloe clears the ball and the mid get a handle of the ball. "When you get the chance to stop a forward from scoring it is an amazing feeling that no one can explain." Harloe said.

HEADERS : As the ball is kicked high, the midfield gets control of the ball and learns to pass and score. "After the ball was headed our team got control of the ball and scored!"

Brennon Willkom awaits his diploma as he turns in his service hour sheet. “All of the hard work that I have done has been put to good use." said Willkom.

DONE BEFORE IT IS DUE : Freshmen, Samantha Sloan is ready to turn in her service hour sheet. "I have already done over two hundred hours and I am ready to do more before I graduate." said Samantha Sloan. She is the kind of student that would help everyone with no reward.

Senior Brennon Wilkom get ready to end the school year as he turns in his service hours. "As I round the corner to the my last year at Mater Dei, I am truly sad to leave all of my friends and teachers, but I am so happy that I am going to start a new chapter in my life.” said Wilkom.

DOING GOOD DEEDS : Jillian Kridle and Kelsey Cox are working on a Campus Ministry flyer for the Thanksgiving Outreach. "To give back to your comminity and to help others is a great part of kindness." said Kelsey Cox. She is great help in the Campus Ministry club.

WORKING HARD : Ava Walters and Joane Dao are helping with an Interact Club meeting pitch. "Service hours are a nice way to connect with the community and help people." said Ava Walters. She is a part of the Interact Club which is a great way to get service hours.

Being a part of a team means coming and working together. Everyone must play there role to the best of there ability. Here, Coach Reese is showing the girls how to improve there bumping skills.

Frosh/soph girls volleyball prepares for a difficult season ahead

LIGHTS, CAMERA, DANCE : Tatiana Andry (left), Abby Snider (middle), and Laura Alfaro (right) are hanging out and laughing before they enter the 2017 Welcome Dance. They are cited to have there first all school dance as freshmen. “The atmosphere of the dance was very fun and enthusiastic and the music was bomb. Everyone was having fun and the food there was good.” said Tatiana Andry (grade 9).
