Nicole Kresich is a senior at Mater Dei High School and a senior staff reporter for The Scarlet Scroll. When’s she’s not writing for the Scroll, she can be found competing with the girls varsity water polo team. In her free time, Nicole enjoys concerts, food and going to the beach with her friends.

Mater Dei’s Special Games began with a lap around the track. Students, athletes, volunteers and therapy dogs parade around the field until reaching the finish line. This signifies the start of a very special day.

Junior Pearl Hsu represents Team NEGU club. NEGU is an acronym for “Never Ever Give Up.” "We recently had a boba drive on campus to raise money for kids with cancer," Hsu said.

Junior Elena VanEnenam represents the Thoughtful Thrifting club during upper lunch. Thoughtful Thrifting donates used and old clothing to local thrift shops.

Junior Brooke Banta supports Campus Ministry by wearing a Special Games T-shirt during club dress. Made possible by Campus Ministry, Special Games is Mater Dei’s version of the Special Olympics: a day for athletes with special needs to compete and play games with student volunteers.
