Playdate is a Costa Mesa/Newport Beach based high school garage-rock band consisting of Daniel Fowlie, Elijah Chavis, Brandon Knickerbocker and Sean Flores. The band has been together for about two years but have been more active in their music the past year.
The band recently debuted their first album the self-titled “Playdate,” which delivers a unique sound for each song. They give off a Southern California feel with some skate punk and beach vibes, giving the album new and fresh tunes for sound junkies to enjoy.
Throughout the album, songs are held together by Flores’ simple yet groovy bass tunes and Knickerbocker’s fast paced and upbeat drum playing. Led by Chavis’ power chords, Daniels catchy guitar solos and voice are a sweet compliment.
From the garage rock song “Irreversible Cure,” to the Hispanic influenced lyrics in “Aguas Calientes,” the album provides a unique twist that is pleasing to the ear and shows that the band can deliver different genres of music. These guys show they have melodic talent when producing songs.
