Alumna Leticia Oseguera returns to Mater Dei
Leticia Oseguera, class of 1994 and an associate professor in the department of education policy at Pennsylvania State University, visited Mater Dei during Mass on Tuesday. Oseguera shared her story about her Mater Dei journey and her beliefs about the importance of education. “Hearing her speech during mass was an inspiration for me to work harder in school,” sophomore Shelby Mariscal said.
Varsity girls’ water polo competes at Trinity League Championship during three-way tie
This Wednesday, the Mater Dei girls varsity water polo team competed against Orange Lutheran at Santiago Canyon College in a deciding factor over who would win the Trinity League Championship. Orange Lutheran, Mater Dei, and Santa Margarita were all 3-1 in the league and competed for the coveted title, with Orange Lutheran taking the win 12-7.
Chamber Singers and Jazz Band perform at Christ Cathedral Academy
To celebrate Catholic Schools Week, Mater Dei’s chamber singers and the jazz band performed Tuesday afternoon at the Christ Cathedral Academy in Garden Grove for its young students. The Academy is the parish school of Christ Cathedral, the future cathedral of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange.
