Winter Formal: Stress-free Dress Shopping

February 19, 2016
The clock is ticking to find the perfect Winter Formal dress! All high school girls are on the hunt to get their perfect dress, but finding the perfect place to shop can be a challenge.
“I always start out in the women’s section at Nordstrom. There is always a big variety to choose from the style and color. It’s a good place to start,”senior Amanda Moore said.
Between school, sports, arts and extracurriculars, stressed students do not have time to try on dresses at the mall. If you fall under this category, online shopping can be a life-saver.
Senior Bailey Prado says that the mobile app Wanelo is where she spends her time browsing through dresses. “Since I am in AP Art, I have no time to spend hours on trying dresses. By using Wanelo it allows me to categorize what type of dresses I like. Then I can save them to my profile. Each dress comes with a link to connect me to the online store to where I can buy it. It helps me find exactly what I am looking for,” Prado said.
If you are short on time and money, online shopping is a good solution. To avoid returning a dress, compare yourself to the store’s size guide and be mindful of return policies.
Take the stress out of finding a dress for Winter Formal and choose the easy route this year by planning ahead or taking your shopping online.

![BUILDING THE FUTURE: Plans to build tennis courts and a new Performing Arts Center will be started and completed in the coming years. This will benefit students and athletes alike as they will enhance both the Athletic and Performing Arts Departments and bring much-needed venues and state-of-the-art spaces to campus. “You want to be rooted in that tradition of the school when [it comes to] these projects, we’ve always got to be innovating and moving forward,” Vice President of School Relations Scott Melvin said. ![GET UP Students laugh and dance at a school rally. All the events and rallies hosted by ASB help bring students together and make school an enjoyable place to be. Senior Maddy O’Connor believes ASB keeps everything together and the school spirit alive. “A lot of things wouldn't be as organized [without ASB] and it'd be kind of boring,” O’Connor said. “ASB brings joy to Mater Dei, and pretty much [all things] cool.”](https://thescarletscroll.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/HEIF-Image-1200x800.jpeg)
