Album Review: ‘We the Generation’ by Rudimental
November 12, 2015
The foursome from Hackney, London has done it again. Rudimental proves that for them, making an album is a piece of cake. ‘We the Generation’ is true to the feel-good grooves and soulful vocals Rudimental made known to the music industry on their debut album ‘Home’ back in 2013. Unlike ‘Home,’ ‘We the Generation’ is jam packed with even more emerging artists. Will Heard, Lianne La Havas, Anne-Marie and the late Bobby Womak are just a few artists making their presence known on the album.
This 18 track album has a little bit of everything for everyone. Essences of Reggae are found on the tracks ‘System’ and ‘Love Ain’t Just A Word,’ while ‘Needn’t Speak’ has a coffee shop feel, with the help of Lianne La Havas. If you’re looking for something with a rock and blues feel, ‘New Day’ featuring Bobby Womak and ‘Run’ featuring Will Heard might do the trick.
‘Rumor Mill,’ ‘Treading On Water,’ ‘Common Emotion,’ and ‘Go Far’ are just a few standout songs that bring out Rudimental’s original flavors, highlighting drum’n’bass and dance.
Compared to ‘Home,’ ‘We the Generation’ is a leap in positive creativity.
Rudimental possibly may not have hit the mark of a good release date for ‘We the Generation,’ considering this album produces sounds geared toward summer festivals rather than the autumn and wintry season ahead of us. However, a well-produced album is well produced album; kudos to Rudimental for staying true to their sound.

![BUILDING THE FUTURE: Plans to build tennis courts and a new Performing Arts Center will be started and completed in the coming years. This will benefit students and athletes alike as they will enhance both the Athletic and Performing Arts Departments and bring much-needed venues and state-of-the-art spaces to campus. “You want to be rooted in that tradition of the school when [it comes to] these projects, we’ve always got to be innovating and moving forward,” Vice President of School Relations Scott Melvin said. ![GET UP Students laugh and dance at a school rally. All the events and rallies hosted by ASB help bring students together and make school an enjoyable place to be. Senior Maddy O’Connor believes ASB keeps everything together and the school spirit alive. “A lot of things wouldn't be as organized [without ASB] and it'd be kind of boring,” O’Connor said. “ASB brings joy to Mater Dei, and pretty much [all things] cool.”](https://thescarletscroll.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/HEIF-Image-1200x800.jpeg)
