Kickoff to Homecoming
October 27, 2016
Homecoming week for Mater Dei slowly came to a close with a win against Santa Margarita with a score of 62-14.
Trinity League play started off strong by the Mater Dei Monarchs in their victory against the Santa Margarita Eagles. Both teams fought hard to win the night but the Eagles could not compare to the strength of the Monarchs’ offense and defense. Mater Dei Monarchs have kept up their undefeated season for five straight games while adding Santa Margarita to their list of victories Friday night, October 8.
Mater Dei gained a total of 453 yards through rushing in passing. Due to Santa Margarita, this was the fewest yards gained this season by the Monarchs. JT Daniels threw a total of 309 yards to receivers CJ Parks, Bru McCoy, Amon-Ra St. Brown and Osiris St. Brown. Along with the amount of passing yards, Shakobe Harper and his fellow running backs rushed 117 yards, with a total of 20 carries against the Santa Margarita’s defense.
Although the this was the lowest amount of yards gained this game, Mater Dei continues to power through the Trinity League at an astonishing rate.
“It’s scary how good we are,” Luke O’Hara said after their victory over the Eagles.

![BUILDING THE FUTURE: Plans to build tennis courts and a new Performing Arts Center will be started and completed in the coming years. This will benefit students and athletes alike as they will enhance both the Athletic and Performing Arts Departments and bring much-needed venues and state-of-the-art spaces to campus. “You want to be rooted in that tradition of the school when [it comes to] these projects, we’ve always got to be innovating and moving forward,” Vice President of School Relations Scott Melvin said. ![GET UP Students laugh and dance at a school rally. All the events and rallies hosted by ASB help bring students together and make school an enjoyable place to be. Senior Maddy O’Connor believes ASB keeps everything together and the school spirit alive. “A lot of things wouldn't be as organized [without ASB] and it'd be kind of boring,” O’Connor said. “ASB brings joy to Mater Dei, and pretty much [all things] cool.”](https://thescarletscroll.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/HEIF-Image-1200x800.jpeg)
