The Dab– Jesse Lingard is the man to thank for bringing the ‘dab’ into style. It all started when he scored in Manchester United’s 3-3 draw with Newcastle in January. Jesse Lingard’s now teammate Paul Pogba used and made the dab very popular. The dab was then picked up by highly looked upon figures in the United States. Soon athletes and hip hop artists began to dab at large events. This popularized the dance, and it is now known all over the world.
The Whip- Ricky Hawke, an unknown teen from Atlanta Georgia uploaded “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)” to SoundCloud in January. The video soon went viral and became popular with everyday people all over the world.
Juju on that Beat- “JuJu on That Beat” is a song written by American rappers Zay Hilfigerrr and Zayion McCall. After the music video was released, it went viral. It resulted in over 30 million views and the dance has become popular around the globe. USC football player JuJu Smith, performed the dance during a USC football game, bringing the dance to an even wider audience.
The Mannequin Challenge– The Mannequin Challenge is a viral internet trend, where people in the video remain frozen like a Mannequin while the song “Black Beatles” by Rae Sremmurd plays in the background. The belief is that the #mannequinchallenge was started by students in Jacksonville, Florida on October 12, 2016. Soon videos of the Mannequin Challenge started popping up all over social media.
The Quan– “Hit the Quan” was a single by iLoveMemphis, an American rapper. The song was originated based on a dance that was made popular by American rapper Rich Homie Quan.
“Bet You Can’t Do It Like Me” Challenge- This song was a debut single by American rapper DLOW. The song showed as number 45 on the U.S. billboard Hot 100.
