Coach Rollinson stands with the team he created and his grandson Matthew at the game on Friday, Sept 2 versus Corona Centennial. The year 2023 serves as Coach Rollinson’s 34th year as Head Coach of the Monarch Football Team. He has led the team to win eight CIF Championships, four state titles, and the National Championship in 1994, 1996, 2017, 2018, and 2021. Rollinson loves to have his family with him at games, and the week prior when Mater Dei played Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas his grandson made a very important decision. “Matthew is seven and he looked at me and I say ‘What’s wrong?’ Rollinson said. “I knew he had apprehension and I didn’t want to force him and I didn’t want him to feel uncomfortable, it had to be his decision. And I wanted him to make that decision. He finally said, ‘I’m gonna do it.’ And I replied, ‘What are you gonna do?’ He said, ‘Can I be a ball boy?’ And I said, ‘Yes.’ He loved it. I mean, I’m sitting there going this is pretty cool. We are at a major football game and my grandson is the ball boy- life is good.”
