Senior students drive through for stole ceremony

On Friday, Apr. 24 the school held its first drive through stole ceremony. In previous years students achieving a 4.0 or higher for four years were awarded a silk sash to wear at graduation during a ceremony. This year students were greeted by a faculty member and given their stole and school-made cookies. As per California directives, students and staff were required to wear masks and stay in cars to address appropriate covid-19 procedures, but it did not take away from the “unforgettable event” according to Principal Frances Clare.
EARLY BIRD: Before the day began at 9am there was an immense amount of preparation that took place hours before by a crew of staff and faculty. “There was lots of preparation,” said principal Frances Clare. “This was handled by counselor Ms. Kelly Troisi, assistant principal Mr. Gutierrez, activities director Ms. Costa and moderator Ms Triantos. There were several meetings to come up with a plan but it was very important to recognize the outstanding, hard work of the senior level students and we wanted it to be very special for them despite the unprecedented virus situation.”
![BUILDING THE FUTURE: Plans to build tennis courts and a new Performing Arts Center will be started and completed in the coming years. This will benefit students and athletes alike as they will enhance both the Athletic and Performing Arts Departments and bring much-needed venues and state-of-the-art spaces to campus. “You want to be rooted in that tradition of the school when [it comes to] these projects, we’ve always got to be innovating and moving forward,” Vice President of School Relations Scott Melvin said.
