James Grimm, a veteran who fought in the Vietnam war, speaks to the junior students on April 3 in the school library. All junior level U.S. history classes were invited to hear Grimm's stories during their time in service. When describing the camaraderie among the soldiers, Grim told his listeners that "in the army you don't do anything as I, it's we."

Water Polo Captain William "Billy" Motherway was chosen for the November Monarch of the Month. His favorite aspect of Mater Dei is the sense of community. Motherway says,"It feels like a tiny community, [where] everyone knows each other.

The Ping Pong Club sets up for their first meeting on Sept. 27. The club was started last year by-then juniors Tuan Do and Jarvis Yuan. "In Ping Pong Club we try to socialize and help students make friends," Do said.

Senior Charlie Chen plays an intense game of Ping Pong as a returning player and member outside the LeVecke Center. The club often meets inside or outside the LeVecke Center.

Ping Pong Club advertises this year's events at Club Fair. Activities like members vs teachers and members vs students are planned for this year. "This year, now that we're more established, we have to get some better activities planned" said De Lorenzo.

Junior Grant Thomas signs up for Ping Pong Club at Club Fair. Thomas was one of the many students who took an interest in joining.

Friendly competition exhibited between members at the Shamrock Plaza. Ping Pong Club's first meeting of the year was a success.

Seniors Tuan Do, president of Ping Pong Club, and Vice President Jarvis Yuan recruit interested students at the annual Club Fair, which was held on September 20. "We welcome all members" said Do." If you don't know how to play, we will teach you how to do that."

Ping Pong Club leaders hand out informational flyers to new members. Flyers like these were seen around campus promoting the club.

Freshman Teresa Bui plays a competitive game of Ping Pong against her friends. "[Ping Pong Club] is a platform for our friends and any student to relax after school by playing ping pong" said Yuan.

Senior Jag Jennings enjoys his first ping pong game of the year. Many members were in attendance either watching or playing.
